Translation Memory
The concept behind a translation memory is wonderfully simple. By storing segments or sentences in the source language together with their corresponding translation in a database, dedicated software is able to search the database and propose suitable translations during future translation projects. In practise, however, things become rather more complicated. There are numerous translation memory solutions available on the market today offering ever more sophisticated features such as workflow management, independent translator environments, localization features, quality assurance controls, etc.
As a result, the expertise required to get the most out of such systems demands in-depth knowledge and experience of the characteristics and limitations of each system. Our dedicated language technology department has accumulated a wealth of experience over the years and is able to select the most appropriate translation memory system for each individual project while trouble-shooting any compatibility issues or technical glitches.
However, language technology is not limited to translation memory tools. Here at Ic.Doc we use a whole host of other tools, such as localization, terminology management and quality assurance tools on a daily basis. To find out more, please consult the box to the left.
