Desktop Publishing
Ic.Doc’s desktop publishing specialists understand language specific requirements for the lay-out of documents. Our DTP specialists are selected on the basis of their linguistic skills and their knowledge of the most widely used desktop publishing programs and other tools used for graphic design and website management. Multilingual DTP work should not be underestimated.
There are a minefield of potential problems to be addressed such as compatibility issues between different software versions and localized editions of software programs (for example Chinese Editions or Middle East Editions), limitations concerning certain character sets, visualization issues and adaptation of layout to locale-specific conventions. Our DTP operators are constantly on the look-out for new solutions to help overcome such issues, and are able to provide expert advice, enabling you to understand in advance which software may cause problems with which language downstream in the translation process.
We are also able to work cross-platform: Windows, Mac and Linux are by no means unexplored territory for us and we also have the skills and capacity to handle particular fonts or right-to-left languages.
Our customers are always impressed when they see the lengthy check lists we use for our multilingual DTP work: few people realize the complexity of correctly typesetting a document in another language. BR>Rocco Pellegrino, DTP manager
