In-Country Review
Sometimes, a translation that is correct from an academical point of view is simply not enough. You need to be sure that your translation conveys the right message to your target audience using the right language. So how can you be sure that your translations are suitable for use in international markets? Generally the most qualified people to answer this question are native in-country staff. They have the best knowledge of the corporate and industry specific terminology used in the target market as well as insight into local business practices, cultural nuances and compliance regulations. This is why more and more companies are recognising the value of including an in-country-review into their workflow for multilingual documents.
However, in most cases, the review process is largely in-efficient and time-consuming. There are several main reasons. Firstly, the reviewers need to be identified. This may be harder than it first seems. Next, reviewers generally need to schedule the review process around their other activities, and therefore if they spend significant amounts of time on the review process, they will inevitably be neglecting their core tasks. Another related problem is the difficulty to get reviews done in time, without delaying product launches, not to mention the fact that in-country reviews are often subjective and influenced by personal preferences.
Over time, we have fine-tuned our workflows for in-country reviews. We are therefore able to offer you and your reviewers the support you need to ensure that this task is managed in an efficient and effective manner.
If you talk to a man in a language he understands, that goes to his head. If you talk to him in his language, that goes to his heart. BR>Nelson Mandela
File preparation, translation and double check will take place as in other translation processes. Following these steps, the content will be arranged in a bilingual file designed specifically for the in-country review process and sent to the reviewer together with best practice instructions.
The reviewer checks the translation against the original source text and is able to make modifications or add comments and questions. Where useful we are available to establish direct contact with the reviewer.
The updates will be checked and implemented in the translation memory, while any changes to terms will be updated in the terminology dbase (in this way any customer modifications will be made available for re-use in future projects). The project files are then prepared for delivery including any necessary DTP or Engineering activities.
Files will be delivered in the requested format and layout. If desired, we are also available to provide feedback on the changes that have been carried out by the reviewer.
