Content Management Systems

Content Management Systems (CMS) range from simple platforms to vastly complex enterprise-level installations. The concept remains the same though: they organise and store information in a component-based structure and promote the reuse of content. The more evolved systems often have built-in translation management functionalities. By implementing a CMS you will be revolutionising the translation process:

  • smaller, more frequent translation tasks - as chunks of new content are created, they can be sent for translation. This helps relieve the pressure of shorter lead times;
  • no more time-consuming layout tasks - by separating content from layout, the need for manual intervention will be reduced to the minimum.

But remember:

  • “what goes in, stays in” - as each information chunk is translated only once, you need to take extra measures to ensure the quality of translated material.

If implemented correctly, CMS systems will generally pay for themselves within one to two years.
